First of all, and most important, this is not a sponsored post. None of these cafes I review within this post paid me to do so, or offered me free meals/drinks, or any discounts. Also, in this post, I will not reviewing cafes/restaurants that sells traditional Yogyakarta's dishes like gudeg. I will write about my favourite cafes to work at, when I am in Yogyakarta for business trip. And most of the cafes sells Western foods! :D
#1 Indische Koffie, Benteng Vredeburg
My first favourite cafe to work in Yogyakarta is Indische Koffie. The cafe is located inside the Fort Vredeburg complex. Although located in the heart of the city and inside a tourist destination, this cafe is quite and not crowded at all. The cafe is not popular to be visited by the tourists who are busy wandering around the fort complex. Perhaps, for the locals, the price of the cafe is a bit expensive for Yogyakarta's standard. And the menu is not Indonesians, it is Indo-Europeans. As for me, that kind of culinary style is my favourite of all foods!
Below is a corner at Indische Koffie, showing photographs of Yogyakarta during colonial era.

#2 Ruang Tengah Cafe, Jl. Patehan Lor
The second best cafe in Yogyakarta is Ruang Tengah Cafe. The cafe is also in the city centre, located near Taman Sari. The ambience of this cafe is perfect for working. It has indoor and outdoor seating, and the cafe provides many electricity plugs. Best of all, the cafe also has bean bags outside! My favourite spot to open my laptop!
But, the most important thing is, the foods are delicious (I love its sandwich) and the price is not expensive! During my first visit, I was shocked when the waiter asked me to pay. It was not even half-price if I compared to Jakarta's standard!

#3 Filosofi Kopi, Jl. Pandhawa
Filosofi Kopi is located "in the middle of nowhere". It is a bit far from the city centre. When I first came there, my online taxi driver even a bit worried to drop me off, haha...
Actually, I am not sure why I like this cafe. Perhaps, it is because of its ambience. The cafe is a semi-open cafe with a lot of outdoor seating. It is nice and Instagramable, especially in the evening when the lighting is fabulous. But, during the day, it is a bit hot. Other reason why I like this cafe is, perhaps, because of the movie (Filosofi Kopi the Movie 2: Ben & Jody). And, of course, because of one of the owner: Chicco Jerikho! Aww... <3

#4 Kumpeni Coffee & Ice Cream, Jl. Nyai Ahmad Dahlan
I accidentally found this cafe when I had to go to a photocopy service nearby. As I am a history geek, then, I was attracted with its name: Kumpeni Coffee & Ice Cream. Kumpeni means VOC: Dutch 17th century company. So, I decided to wait (for the photocopy) at the cafe. The cafe itself is located within a colonial building, and the interior is vintage.
Surprisingly, the foods and drinks are delicious. Of course it sells coffee and ice cream (and snacks). Although its bestseller is kopi wine, I love its Kopi Susu Kumpeni! Like many other Yogyakarta's cafe, the price is inexpensive! Moreover, the cafe is not crowded, so it is perfect to open up your laptop and work. The staffs are also nice. Pst, don't forget to try its bitterballen...

#5 Lotus Mio, Jl. Tirtodipuran
Actually, I was here only once. It was quite late and me and some friends need a place to work (and we found this cafe). So, unfortunately, I don't have its picture. But I did remember that our table was a long wooden table and long wooden chairs. I also remembered that I love the food. The cafe sells gelato and lava cake, and some other menu.
Other cafes in the area, particularly in Prawirotaman, are usually crowded with tourists. But not this one. At least when I was there.
However, the best part is, it shares its space with Cokelat Monggo's showroom! As Cokelat Monggo is one of my favourite chocolate brand, so, it was heaven on earth! It was a perfect combination: working and chocolate shopping.
Last but not least, what is your best cafe for work in Yogyakarta?
